Right angle collision
A Ridgeville man and a Poneto man were involved in a collision Monday morning in Portland.
Gaylon Brown, 65, 4958 W. 900 South, Ridgeville, told Portland Police officers he was attempting to turn east onto Ind. 67 from the east exit of Wal-Mart, 950 W. Votaw St., Portland, when there was a westbound vehicle turning into the parking lot. Brown said he proceeded to turn his 2012 Toyota Tundra east and struck a 2002 Pontiac Montana traveling west on Ind. 67.
Hubert Wayman Jr., 80, 7275 S. 150 East, Poneto, told officers he was driving west on Ind. 67 in his Pontiac when the Toyota pulled in front of him. Wayman said he was unable to avoid the collision. He also stated he saw an unknown vehicle driving west and turning into the Wal-Mart at the time of the collision.
Damage in the 11:03 a.m. collision was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Notebook stolen
An Chromebook laptop computer was reported stolen from Jay County High School.
According to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report, the computer was stolen during the first lunch period Nov. 14. The laptop is owned by Jay School Corporation, but had been rented to a student.
The theft was reported at 10:25 a.m. Monday.
