Probation violation
A Portland man was recently found in violation of his probation in Jay Superior Court.
Jason Daugherty, 38, was sentenced Nov. 26 to 170 days of the two-year sentence originally imposed in a January case of theft, a Class D felony, after failing to begin his 170 days of electronically monitored home detention by the required date.
He was given 128 days credit for 64 days served and began serving the remaining 42 days at Jay County Jail Nov. 26.
Dealing sentence
A Dunkirk woman was sentenced recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Randale Harrison, 33, pleaded guilty to dealing in a schedule II controlled substance, a Class B felony, and was sentenced Nov. 20 to 10 years in Indiana Department of Correction. As part of a plea agreement, a count of dealing in a schedule II controlled substance, a Class A felony, was dismissed. She was given credit from her date of arrest on May 16, less 20 days good time, and was assessed court costs of $168. She was ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee.
Forgery sentence
A Dunkirk man was sentenced recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Joshua Duty, 23, pleaded guilty to forgery, a Class C felony, and was sentenced Nov. 17 to four years in Indiana Department of Correction, with two years suspended. He was given 70 days credit for 35 days served and was assessed court costs of $168. He was ordered to pay $250 in restitution to Roberta Welch and was placed on formal probation for two years.
