Jay County swimmers still unbeaten

CONVERSE — The Jay County High School girls swim team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 100-86 victory on Tuesday.
The boys lost to the Golden Eagles, 117-69.
Sophie Bader, Anne Vormohr and Alex Bader all won two individual events for the JCHS girls.
Sophie Bader won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 2.33 seconds) and the 500 freestyle (5:22.73). Vormohr took first in the 50 freestyle (25.26) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.2). Alex Bader earned victories in both the 200 individual medley (2:16.53) and the 100 butterfly (59.73).
Jamie Valentine also won an event for the girls, touching the wall first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.94.
Jay County also won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
James Keen was the only double winner for the Patriot boys, placing first in the 100 freestyle (51.46) and the 100 backstroke (56.17). Sok Vormohr won the 200 individual medley in 2:16.65.

Jay girls fall
MUNCIE — Jay County had a tough time keeping up with Jayla Scaife on Tuesday.
The Muncie Central junior scored a game-high 21 points as the host Bearcats handed the Patriot girls basketball team its first loss of the season, 48-40.
Jay County (6-1) trailed 15-10 after the opening quarter, and saw its deficit expand to 36-25 heading into the final period.
A 15-point effort in the fourth wasn’t enough to overcome Scaife and the Bearcats.
Catherine Dunn and Abby Wendel had 16 and 12 points respectively for the Patriots. Bre McIntire added seven points, and Ava Kunkler had four.
Jay County’s junior varsity team moved to 6-1 with a 40-14 victory earlier in the night. Emily Muhlenkamp and Besty Muhlenkamp each had 10 points.


Stars shine in win
WINCHESTER — Sydney Willis was on fire from the outside.
Cindy In’t Groen took care of business down low.
Willis scored 26 points and In’t Groen added 23 as the South Adams girls basketball team rolled over the Winchester Golden Falcons on Tuesday, 59-38.
Willis hit eight 3-pointers and In’t Groen had 10 2-point field goals as both girls reached new season-high point totals.
South Adams improves to 5-2 on the season, while Winchester fell to 0-8.
Mackenzie Jennings and Lexi Dellinger added four points apiece.

FR?girls set records
MUNCIE — Fort Recovery’s girls swim team set four new school records Monday.
The Tribe girls lost both parts of a double dual, 49-48 to Hagerstown and 53-45 to host Delta. The FRHS boys also lost, 89-7 to Delta and 53-16 to Hagerstown.
Carley Stone set a new school mark in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 7.14 seconds. Sophie Timmerman also broke the school record in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:15.35.
They teamed with Cori Stone and Alexis Bubp to break the Tribe records in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. They finished in 2:01 in the medley relay and set a new mark of 4:11.61 in the 400 freestyle.
Mackinley Timmerman (100 breaststroke) and Harrison Kaup (100 freestyle) picked up the only victories for the Tribe boys.
