Deer struck
Two Jay County residents were involved in accidents with deer recently.
A Redkey woman’s vehicle collided with a deer this morning in Wayne Township.
Jama Stant, 35, 109 N. Meridian St., was driving north on Ind. 67 near Ind. 26 when a deer ran onto the road. Stant told officers she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her 2010 Chevrolet Malibu.
Damage in the 5:03 a.m. accident was estimated to be less than $1,000.
A Bryant man was involved in a collision Tuesday evening in Bearcreek Township.
Larry Fifer, 57, 3412 E. 600 North, was driving west on county road 600 North, near county road 200 East, when a deer ran in front of his 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Fifer told officers he was unable to avoid hitting the animal.
Damage in the 5:40 p.m. accident was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Vandalism reported
A Portland woman reported vandalism to her home Tuesday evening.
Cheyenne Youngblood, 230 E. Elder St., called Portland Police Department after returning home around 8:45 p.m. to find her home had been forcefully entered through the front door. She reported that nothing was missing from the home or garage.
Damage to the door is estimated to be $200.
