West Jay holds off Adams Central

DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team held off a late rally on Tuesday, beating the visiting Adams Central Jets 27-26.
The eighth grade Eagles lost, 37-23.
Trevon Vore had nine points and 12 rebounds to lead the WJMS seventh graders. Brinnin Wasson added eight points and four rebounds, and Storm McLaughlin had five points and five rebounds.
For the eighth graders, Noah Harris led the way with nine points and Wyatt Geesaman tallied eight. Nick Raines chipped in with six points.

Chiefs sweep Indians
UNION CITY — East Jay’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball team picked up wins against Union City Westside on Tuesday.
The EJMS eighth graders won 43-23, and the seventh graders got a 35-22 victory.
For the eighth grade Chiefs, Ryan Schlecthy led the way with 16 points and his twin, Michael, added six. Matthew Franks and Gavin Randall both had four as 10 Chiefs scored.
Gabe Link had a team-high 12 points for the seventh graders. Cameron Henry and Alex McFarland had seven points apiece, and Elijah Corwin tallied four.
The eighth grade Chiefs move to 4-2 while the seventh graders improve to 2-4.

Eagle 7th wins
MONROE — West Jay’s seventh grade girls basketball team got its first win of the season Tuesday, beating the host Adams Central Jets 25-14.
The WJMS eighth grade team lost 22-15.
Allison Jobe recorded 12 points to lead the WJMS seventh graders. Kymia Hankins followed with eight points, and Hallie Fields tallied four.
For the eighth grade Eagles Rhegan Shimp had seven points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Fort drops pair
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery dropped a pair of middle school girls basketball games to the visiting St. Henry Redskins on Tuesday.
The Tribe eighth graders lost 29-16, and the seventh graders fell 44-13.
Brooke Gaerke led the FRMS eighth graders with six points, and Madi Rammel tallied four points.
For the seventh graders, Val Muhlenkamp had a team-high six points, and Olivia Patch chipped in with three.
