New egg facility changes hands

An egg-breaking facility that began operations in Fort Recovery in July has been purchased by Cooper Farms and Weaver Brothers of Versailles, Ohio, The Daily Standard reported.
Perham Egg opened the facility, which separated egg whites and yolks to produce liquid egg products.
As a result of the transaction, the name of the facility is being changed to CW Egg Products LLC.
Cooper Farms, founded in 1938, is involved in the production of turkeys, hogs and eggs.
Weaver Brothers, founded in 1929, processes eggs and operates a feed mill.
The plant currently employs about 45, and more jobs may be created over the next 18 months.

Clinic acquired
Bluffton’s Caylor-Nickel Clinic is being acquired by Community Health Systems of Franklin, Tenn., the same group that includes Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Founded in 1917, the physician-owned clinic has more than 20 doctors and 15 specialties.
The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the year, The Bluffton News-Banner reported.

Declare dividend
Allegheny Technologies Inc., parent company of Portland Forge, has declared a quarterly cash dividend of 18 cents per share of common stock.
The dividend is payable on Dec. 24 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 16.

Tyson’s day
Top executives at Tyson Foods told investors this week at Tyson Foods’ Investor Day at the New York Stock Exchange that the company is “built for growth.”
Tyson Mexican Original in Portland is part of Tyson Foods Inc.
At the stock exchange event chairman John Tyson and other members of the senior management team emphasized the significance of the company’s acquisition this year of The Hillshire Brands Company.
“This is an exciting time as we integrate Hillshire Brands into Tyson Foods, and we have set higher expectations for growth,” said president and chief executive officer Donnie Smith.
Tyson Foods is projecting revenues of about $42 billion and adjusted earnings for 2015 in the range of $3.30 to $3.40 per share. That’s an increase of at least 12 percent over the current year.

Ardagh honored
The Glass Packaging Institute has awarded three Clear Choice Awards to glass packaging produced by Ardagh Group’s North American Glass division. Dunkirk’s glass container plant is a part of that division.
Awards were presented for bottles produced for Straus Family Creamery’s Organic Milk, Moreno BHLV California Sparkling Wine and Pernod Ricard’s Segram’s Distiller’s Reserve Gin.

Meeker on board
Jay County native Mary Meeker is a member of the board of LendingClub Corp. which sold 50.3 million shares in an initial public offering this week.
The company arranges loans to individuals and small businesses using funds from small investors who can commit as little as $25. The concept is known as peer-to-peer lending.
Among the early investors in LendingClub was Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, where Meeker is now a partner.
Other members of the board include former Morgan Stanley chairman and CEO John Mack and former U.S. Treasury secretary Larry Summers.

Office relocated
The office of Dr. Michelle Winner and certified nurse practitioner Linda Wellman has moved to Mercer Health West Campus, formerly Briarwood Manor in Coldwater, Ohio. An open house will be held on Jan. 15.

To retire
Greg Wasson, president and CEO of Walgreen, has announced he will retire after the U.S. drugstore chain completes a merger with Alliance Boots, the largest drugstore chain in the United Kingdom.
Alliance Boots chairman Stefano Pessina is expected to become acting CEO when the merger is complete sometime during the first quarter of 2015. Wasson has been CEO since February of 2009.

Recycling grants
A pair of Blackford County companies have been approved for grants from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to expand their recycling operations.
Petoskey Plastics Inc. will receive $175,000 to expand its current operations sorting co-mingled and contaminated plastic scrap.
Reflective Industries LLC will receive $150,000 to help with the purchase of an electronic energy-efficient dryer with an industrial vacuum. Reflective Industries processes waste glass.
As a result of the grants, Petoskey Plastics expects to hire 16 new employees. Reflective Industries will add four jobs.
