Patriot tankers finish fourth

OSSIAN — Jay County High School’s boys swim team got victories in three events Saturday at the Norwell Invitational.
Jay County finished fourth with 178 points behind Oak Hill (238), Bluffton (190) and Norwell (183). South Adams was fifth with 160.
Jay County senior James Keen kept his undefeated streak alive with wins in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke. He swam a time of 2 minutes, 3.14 seconds in the 200 IM, and finished with a time of 55.38 seconds in the 100 backstroke.
He also anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay team, joining Sok Vormohr, Conner Daniels and Cody White to finish with a time of 3:35.52.
White was second in both the 200 and 500 freestyle while Vormohr was fifth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 butterfly.
Travis Barton and Daniels also picked up top-eight finishes for the Patriots in the 50 freestyle. Daniels was third, and Barton placed eighth.
For South Adams, David Steffen was first in the 100 freestyle and fourth in the 200 IM. Daniel Burson placed third in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 400 freestyle.
Drew LeFever finished fourth in the 100 butterfly.

Tribe girls win
MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The Fort Recovery girls swim team picked up a pair of victories Saturday against Memorial and Marion Local.
The Indians beat the Memorial Roughriders 61-37 and defeated the host Marion Local Flyers 74-22 in a double dual. The boys team lost to Memorial 38-31 and tied Marion Local with 37 points.

Sophie Timmerman, Alexis Bubp and sisters Carley and Cori Stone all won dual events for the Tribe girls.
Timmerman was first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Bubp earned victories in the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. Cori Stone won both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and Carley Stone was first in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Mackinley Timmerman picked up the only individual victories for the boys squad, winning both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle. He joined Harrison Kaup, Dillon Ramirez and Kruse Ranly to win the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

Indians sweep Tigers
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams swept the Ansonia Tigers on Saturday.
The eighth grade Indians won 47-28, with the seventh graders defeating the Tigers 34-23.
Grant Knapke exploded for 20 points in leading the seventh grade Indians to victory.
Riley Post helped the cause with five points, and Owen Schoen added four points.
Payton Jutte led the way for the FRMS eighth graders, scoring 12 points.
Mason Will added 12 points, and Clayton Pearson chipped in with seven points.
