Ardagh weighs new acquisition
Business Roundup
Ardagh, which swallowed up both Verallia North America and Anchor Hocking glass companies, has confirmed an interest in acquiring the European Verallia operations as well, Reuters reported this week.
However, the company has also said that it wouldn’t pursue the acquisition if it threw off the timing of its planned initial public offering of stock.
Verallia of France and Verallia North America were both a part of Saint Gobain, but the North American operations, including Dunkirk’s glass container plant, were acquired by Ardagh in 2013. Ardagh acquired Anchor in 2011, including the glass plant in Winchester.
Based in Luxembourg and led by Irish businessman Paul Coulson, Ardagh plans to go public in the second half of 2015, Reuters reported.
“Ardagh will follow the Verallia (of Europe) process with some interest but it will not allow that process to disturb its IPO timeline,” a company spokesman said.
Saint Gobain, which is primarily involved in sheet glass and building materials production, announced this month that it was looking to sell Verallia.
Leadership changes
Jeanne Houchins, president of Advanced Seal Technology of Bryant, will be president of the Jay County Chamber of Commerce in 2015. John Boggs of WPGW radio will be vice president. Secretary will be Beth Davidson of the Dunkirk Public Library and The Glass Museum.
New board members elected to three-year terms include Norm McCowan of Bell Aquaculture of Redkey, Zach Chenoweth of Citizens State Bank, J.B. Goodrich of Falcon Mint of Portland and Adam Homan of POET Biorefining Portland.
Renewed board members for another three-year term are Tori Kinley of Miller’s Merry Manor of Dunkirk, Elvin Newhouse of Portland, Nat Bryan of Meridian Health Services of Portland and John Boggs of WPGW radio.
