20/20 priorities identified

The Jay County 20/20 Vision Implementation Committee has determined its priorities for 2012-14.
The committee decided its four primary goals will be learning success, healthy lifestyles, community improvement and outdoor recreation.
The committee will support the work of the Jay County Education Success Coalition, promote community emphasis on healthy lifestyle habits, support advocacy for desirable housing options within the community and support the exploration of recreational options for enhanced quality of life.
The committee based its goals on input from recent community meetings held at Dunkirk, Pennville and Portland.
The strategic planning initiative began in 2009 after residents described the “ideal Jay County.” A report published in April 2010 described 15 major goals in four key performance areas: economic development; education; health, wellness and recreation; and quality of life.
