4th quarter lifts SA girls (12/05/2008)

MUNCIE - The South Adams High School girls basketball team evened its record Thursday night with a big fourth quarter for a 40-34 victory over the host Burris Owls.
The Starfires (3-3) scored in single digits in each of the first three quarters and trailed by one heading into the final period. But they put up 15 points in the fourth to take the victory.
Senior Ashton Morgan paced South Adams with 12 points, and Karen Bollenbacher joined her in double figures with 10. Tara Beitler added eight points.
Lacy Mroz led the Owls in scoring with nine points. Alysa Luching chipped in seven points.
Ashlynn Jennings and Brook Graat each scored four points as the SAHS junior varsity team lost 44-15.
Price leads EJMS
Cade Price dominated the eighth grade boys basketball game Thursday night, leading East Jay Middle School to a 41-31 victory over Muncie North Side. The Chief seventh graders also won, 35-22.
Price went wild for 22 points to lead East Jay's eighth graders. Brock McFarland had 10 points, and Scott Schwieterman added eight.
Jacob Schlosser finished with 11 points to pace the seventh grade Chiefs. Zach Fullenkamp added seven, and Trey Teagle scored six.

BERNE - South Adams Middle School's eighth grade girls basketball team rallied to take a brief fourth-quarter lead, but fell 30-28 Thursday to visiting St. Joe.
Tori Smith had eight points for the Starfires, who were behind by 13 points at the close of the third quarter. Kristen Muselman had six points and 13 rebounds.
