George William and Sonjia Sue Gilbert, Syracuse, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.
George married the former Sonjia Sue Camesasca on Jan 21, 1952.
George was superintendent of the Jay School Corporation in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. He also taught and coached in the Warsaw School Corporation and served as business manager for the Wawasee School Corporation.
Sonjia was a 1959 graduate of Dunkirk High School. She had served as director of the instructional materials center for the Warsaw School Corporation and as head of the library for South Adams High School in Berne.
They are the parents of Darci Myers, Greensburg, and Troy Gilbert, Alameda, Calif. They also have five grandchildren.
