Agricultural issues to be discussed (01/26/07)

An update on agricultural issues in Jay County will be the topic of a seminar to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Jay County Public Library community room.

The seminar will begin at 12:30 p.m. with John Knipp speaking on well head protection; Tony Vyn will speak on corn concerns from 1 to 2 p.m.; Larry Bledsoe will give a pest update from 2:10 until 3:10 p.m. and payment for PARP credit will be from 3:10 until 3:30 p.m.

Those wanting PARP credit need $10 and their private applicator individual permit.

Spelling bee

The 2006-07 Mercer County Spelling Bee will be held Monday, Feb. 5, at Wright State University-Lake Campus auditorium with 25 five students from Coldwater, Fort Recovery, Marion, Parkway and St. Henry, Ohio, school districts participating.

Dean's list

Nathan F. Jetter, Portland, made the dean's list for the fall quarter at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
