Anna fights off Indians

ANNA, Ohio - The Fort Recovery High School volleyball team fell just a few points short Monday as a two-games-to-one lead slipped away in a 26-24, 19-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-13 loss to the Anna Rockets.
Nicole Pottkotter finished with 21 kills, 15 assists and eight blocks, all team highs, for the Indians. Emily May added 11 digs and nine points.
Carly Staugler scored 18 points, Holly Brunswick notched 12 kills and four blocks and Shelby Brunswick had six digs.
The Tribe dropped to 6-4 on the season with the loss to Anna (5-7).
Kayla Kahlig had 16 assists and 13 points to lead the FRHS junior varsity team (4-4) to a 25-16, 25-19 victory over Anna. Abby Backs had eight digs and six points, and Ericka Lennartz totaled six kills.
JC freshmen fall
A last-minute drive down the field came up empty as the Jay County junior varsity football team lost 13-6 Monday to the visiting Shenandoah Raiders.

The Patriots drove the ball down the field in the closing moments and had a potential tying touchdown pass in the air as time expired. However, a Shenandoah defender broke up the Eric Beougher to Dakota Steed pass attempt to end the game.
Beougher scored the only JCHS touchdown on a 70-yard run.

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery freshman football team fell behind 14-0 in the first half Monday on the way to a 22-6 loss to the Parkway Panthers.
The Indians scored their lone TD in the fourth quarter on a Trent Kaiser 7-yard run.
EJ splits with Delta
East Jay Middle School's eighth grade volleyball team topped visiting Delta Monday 25-14, 25-16. The sixth graders lost, 25-20, 25-15.
Katie Aker led the eighth graders (6-4) with five digs and two kills. Ali Inman had five points and two assists, Katlin Petro totaled five points and two blocks and Tasya Smith added nine digs.
Hannah Lykins finished with three points, three aces and a dig in the sixth grade match for the Chiefs. Allison Ruiz scored five points, and Lexie Hudson had three points and one dig.[[In-content Ad]]
