Applegate assets sold (01/19/08)
Business roundup
Ag Growth Income Fund of Winnipeg, Canada, has acquired the assets of Applegate Steel.
The purchase is expected to save Applegate's 80 jobs in Randolph County. The purchase agreement does not include the land and buildings in Saratoga.
Applegate's manufacturing work will be moved to Union City, where Ag Growth already owns a 160,000 square-foot former Body Company building.
The move is expected to take 18 months to complete.
Applegate manufactures livestock gates, panels, feeders and stock tanks.

The Geneva Dental Clinic will be offering free dental treatments for children younger than 18.
On Feb. 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., the clinic will hold a "Give Kids a Smile Day."
There are no income guidelines, but preference will be given to children with no other dental insurance or assistance. The clinic is located at 447 E. Line St.
Those who would like the free dental care are asked to call for an appointment at (260) 368-7500.
