Area food banks announce days and hours (10/11/05)

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana has announced the days and hours of operation for food pantries in the Jay County area.
North Meridian United Methodist Church, 122 N. Main St. in Redkey, will be open each Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Dunkirk Community Concerns, 326 S. Main St., is open each Thursday from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Community and Family Services, 521 S. Wayne St. in Portland, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A family of four should make no more than $2,300 monthly or $27,600 yearly to visit the food pantries.
Correction
My story titled “Randolph clock restoration winding down” in the Oct. 1 edition of The Commercial Review stated that David Northcutt works at SPC Telephone in Marion. The correct name of the company is SBC Communications.
Breast cancer awareness
Bluffton Regional Medical Center has launched a new Breast Cancer Awareness program.
“Fearless and Fabulous” is a month long education and empowerment campaign that includes free breast cancer screenings. For more information, call Betsy Needler at (260) 919-3145 or visit [email protected].
Livestock show
Davis Bowen, Portland, has entered two sheep in the junior market lamb division of the 32nd annual North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE).
The NAILE is recognized as the world’s largest purebred livestock show.
The event will take place Nov. 5 through Nov. 18 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
MDA flu shots
The Muscular Dystrophy Association will provide free flu shots again this year to those with a neuromuscular disease. For more information, call (800) 572-1717 or visit www.mdausa.org.
Fort friends
The Friends of the Fort Recovery Library recently held a program with Steve Stone of Nature’s Green Nursery as the guest speaker.
Stone discussed fall plantings, including flower bulbs and perennials.[[In-content Ad]]
