Art teachers attend workshop

Taking note

Kathy Ayers and Leslie Newton, art teachers with the Jay School Corporation, participated in an “Extending Teacher Creativity: A Summer Workshop on Integration, Collaboration and Technology” this summer at Indiana State University.
The workshop, funded by Lilly Endowment Inc., focused on curriculum integration and professional collaboration.

District seminar
Indiana Farm Bureau District 4 Fall Family Seminar will be held Monday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Roseburg Event Center in Marion.

Computer classes
Adams Public Library in Geneva will begin computer classes in September.
An introduction to computers class will be Sept. 16 and Internet basics class will be Sept. 23, with both classes beginning at 10 a.m.
A four-week class on Excel, a spreadsheet program, will begin Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Briggs Room.

Art exhibit
Arts Place’s Collective Center, 138 E. Spring St. in St. Marys, Ohio, will present the youth photography exhibit “Walk with Nature” beginning Monday, Sept. 13.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. or by appointment.

Graduates
Four Jay County residents received degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
Kristen Hess, Portland, earned a bachelors degree in nursing.
Roland Martin, Redkey, earned a masters degree in management.
Johnathan Myron, Portland, earned a bachelors degree in business administration.
Michael Rockwell, Portland, earned a bachelors degree in business administration.
 
Minnetrista events
“Open Space: Art About the Land,” exhibit will begin Saturday, Sept. 11, at Minnetrista in Muncie.
The exhibit, offered in collaboration with Red-tail Conservancy, will feature Indiana artists and unique perspectives of the land as both subject and medium.

“After 5 at Minnetrista: Sampling in the Sun” will be Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Tonne Winery will provide tastings of three of its favorite wines in the Orchard Courtyard. The Muncie Chapter of the American Culinary Federation will also do a cooking demonstration that visitors will be able to sample.
Anyone attending must be 21 years old and the cost is $10. Registration is required by calling (765) 213-3549 or (800) 428-5887.

PBS Program Club at Minnetrista will present American Experience: “Andrew Jackson: Good, Evil, and the Presidency” on Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m.
There will be a program and open discussion and there is no cost.
