Artist set to speak (02/22/08)

Taking Note

Scott Anderson, an artist from Hartford City, will present a gallery talk at Arts Place in Portland on Friday, Feb. 29, at 6:30 p.m. Anderson will discuss his exhibit "A Sequence of Three," which features Act 1, Primordial Trees and Fruits; Act 2, The Vowel Series; and Act 3, Bush Wars.

The exhibit is on display in the Hugh N. Ronald Gallery through March 3 and is sponsored by Old National Bank. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.

The talk will be followed by a performance by Tommy Sands and his Irish Band at 7:30 p.m.

Extension meeting

Purdue Cooperative Extension Service will have an extension advisory council annual meeting on March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jay County 4-H building. There will be a meal, followed by a brief report from the Extension staff. Guest speaker Steve Engleking will speak on "Today Ukraine."

Gourd meeting

The gourd crafters of Ridgeville will meet Saturday, March 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lions Club building. Becky Whitted will demonstrate wood burning techniques and participants will work on gourds. There will be a $2 fee. A program on bluebirds will follow.

Dean's list

Julie Sours has been named to the dean's list at Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences for the fall semester of 2007. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sours, 2949 South U.S. 27, Portland.[[In-content Ad]]
