Arts Place featuring wood carvings (06/29/07)
Taking Note
Arts Place in Portland will feature the exhibit "Creations from the Trees," featuring woodcarved pieces by Mark Twigg, Jerry Bruns, Ray Felts, Bob Hart, Jerry Hook and Teresa Kelly.
The exhibit will be on display from July 9 through Aug. 17 at the Hugh N. Ronald Gallery.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
The exhibit is sponsored by the Portland office of Raymond James and Associates, Inc.
Fun at Minnetrista
Minnetrista Cultural Center of Muncie is offering free entertainment throughout the summer.
Cook and Belle, a singing duo, will perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
America's Hometown Band will perform Wednesday, July 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Muncie Civic Theater will present "State Fair" on Friday, Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Muncie Symphony Orchestra will perform on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m.

Faeries, Sprites and Lights will be at Minnetrista on July 13 and 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be live minstrel music; "Sleeping Beauty" by Muncie Civic Theater; the exhibit "The Art of Faeries, Sprites and Lights; Faerie Towne with refreshments and shopping.
Minnetrista is located at 1200 N. Minnetrista Parkway, Muncie.
Prime Time Breakfast
A Prime Time Breakfast will be held Tuesday, July 3, at 8 a.m. in conference rooms A and B at Jay County Hospital. Lana Remaly from LifeStreams Services will speak about the new "Options" program. To make reservations by July 2, call Teresa Affolder at (260) 726-1844 by 4 p.m.
Dean's list
Stephanie Homan and Holly Taylor have made the dean's list at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne for the spring semester.
Both graduates of Jay County High School, Homan is majoring in nursing and Taylor is majoring in education.

The Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross will offer "Fulfilling Our Mission" course on Saturday, July 7, from 9 a.m. until noon at 325 E. Washington St. in Muncie.
The free course is designed to provide information to other community agencies on Red Cross work and possible partnership for and response to a disaster.
