Arts Place to have annual auction (11/15/05)

Arts Place in Portland will hold its annual Holiday Benefit Auction on Friday, Nov. 18, in Goodrich Hall at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. The auction will be the kickoff event for Winterfest, which is sponsored by the Portland Area Chamber of Commerce. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bidding of items donated by individuals and businesses begins at 6:30 p.m.
Items to be auctioned include trips, getaways, gift items and gift certificates. To donate an item or service or for more information, call Sue Burk at (260) 726-4809 or visit [email protected].
Proceeds will be used to support the programming and activities of Arts Place, including Arts in the Parks, MusicWorks, gallery exhibits and the annual performance series.
Judging needed
Nine entries are now on display at Jay County Public Library for the “Get Caught Reading” photo contest and the public is invited to help choose the winner.
Just come in the library this week during Children’s Book Week and fill out a People’s Choice ballot.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
To host show
The Decatur Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Country Christmas Craft Show on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverside Center in Decatur.
There is no admission charge for the many hand-made merchandise booths.
Scholarships available
Two $1,000 scholarships are available for area seniors for 2006-07, one to attend Anderson University and one to attend Ball State University.
The scholarships are available through Indiana Trust and Investment Management Company and applications are available at high school guidance counselors offices or by calling Coles Public Relations at (317) 571-0051.[[In-content Ad]]
