GENEVA - An even-par opening round keyed Mike Ashman in the Wabash Valley Golf Club Championship.
In the tournament, Ashman shot 71 in the opening round and followed with a 75 in the second round to win the championship flight with a 146 total. Hal Armstrong was second at 152.
Other winners were Mike Wynn (159) in the first flight and Carl Ashman (174) in the second flight. Doug Kinsey (165) was the first flight runner-up, and Russ Flueckiger and Jack Hankins shot 180 to tie for second in flight two.
5k winners
Jay Community Center hosted the 5K Fair Fun Run Saturday, Aug. 2, at Jay County Fairgrounds.
Joe Rasmussen picked up the overall victory in the men's event. The top female runner was 2006 Jay County High School graduate Alyssa Johnson.
