ASV expands in Decatur
Business Roundup
Allied Specialty Vehicles, parent company of Fleetwood RV in Decatur, recently announced its purchase of the Monaco, Holiday Rambler, and R-Vision recreational vehicle businesses from Navistar Inc.
Production of two of those lines — Monaco RV and Holiday Rambler — will be moving to Decatur from Elkhart County. The Decatur Daily Democrat reports the move could produce more than 100 new jobs in Adams County starting in 2014, according to company officials.
ASV already produces RV brands Fleetwood and American Coach at plants in Decatur.
Fort nurse honored
Reid Hospital, Richmond, recently recognized 10 nurses, including Lisa Cox of Fort Recovery, at its 2013 Nursing Excellence Awards reception as part of national Nurse’s Week, May 5-11.
“This celebration … highlights the wonderful our nurses do all year,” Reid vice-president and chief nursing officer Kay Cartwright said in a press release.
Cox was honored for her work as a registered nurse in the 5 North section of the hospital.
Indiana leads Midwest
Site Selection magazine recently named Indiana as the most competitive state for business in the Midwest and the second best nationwide in its Top 10 Competitive States of 2012 list.
The ranking evaluates states on their ability to attract investment based on a 10-factor index using Site Selection publisher Conway Data Inc.’s New Plant database of new and expanded facility announcements.
Texas was ranked first nationwide while Ohio ranked sixth.
Expanding
First Bank of Berne and Family LifeCare recently announced plans to expand their office spaces in a unique transaction that involves the bank’s Berne location.
First Bank of Berne will be constructing a new operations center on the north edge of the town. The bank’s move will allow Family LifeCare to consolidate its Main Street and Water Street facilities into the existing First Bank of Berne building at 102 W. Main St., Berne.
The existing Main Street Family LifeCare location will be remodeled to include a teller line and additional space to serve First Bank of Berne customers.
The bank’s new operations center will be built on six acres located at the corner of Spruger Street Extended and Heritage Trail in Berne.
Chamber seeking nominations
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Community of the Year Award.
The purpose of the award is to honor a deserving Hoosier community for significant contributions to its local business climate and overall image during the past year.
The criteria and application form are available online at www.indianachamber.com/awardprograms. Entries can be submitted to Nick Ostergaard, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, 115 W. Washington St., Suite 850 South, Indianapolis, IN 46204 or emailed to [email protected].

AMH to offer bedside registration
Adams Memorial Hospital recently introduced a new service, which it hopes will provide a quicker, more confidential registration process for patients at the hospital.
Beth Bedwell, Director of Patient Registration, said in a press release that the new procedure will allow a patient needing emergency treatment to come to the ER reception desk, provide basic information, be given an identification bracelet, be triaged by a staff member and then be taken to a room if available.
After the patient has been taken to the room, a registrar will take a portable computer to the patient’s bedside, where the registrar can complete the registration in a less stressful atmosphere.
AT&T extends Internet access
AT&T recently announced the availability of its mobile Internet Network in Portland, Redkey and Pennville. This extends access for advanced mobile services, devices and applications to customers.
The three Jay County cell sites are located near the intersections of Ind. 26 and U.S. 27 in Portland; Ind. 1 and Ind. 67 in Redkey; and Ind. 1 and Ind. 26 near Pennville.
“AT&T is investing heavily in our networks in Jay County so that Hoosiers living in rural areas will have access to the wireless technology they depend on every day,” AT&T Indiana President George Fleetwood said in a press release.
Building purchased
The office building known as Star Bank Plaza, north of Muncie’s City Hall, has been purchased by 400 North High Street LLC, a real estate partnership consisting of Mike Lunsford, Monte Brown and Frank Petty.
On May 8, 400 North High Street LLC acquired the property from First Financial Collateral. “The members of 400 North High Street LLC see this acquisition as an opportunity for improving the north gateway of Muncie’s Central Business District,” Brown said in a press release.[[In-content Ad]]
