Auction will be at John Jay Center

The John Jay Antique Benefit Auction will be held Friday at the John Jay Center, 101 S. Meridian St. in Portland. Professional appraisers will be on hand to give verbal appraisals of antiques from 4 to 7 p.m. Owners then have the option to have items auctioned for a consignment percentage or donate them to benefit the John Jay Center. The auction will begin at 6 p.m.
Some items included in the auction are tickets to Cincinnati Reds and Indianapolis Colts games, a 1965 Schwinn tandem bicycle, and items from local businesses in Jay and surrounding counties.

Dunkirk reunion
A Dunkirk High School 60’s Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Dunkirk Elks Lodge.
Graduates from 1960 to 1969 are invited. A social time will be from 4 to 6 p.m.; a buffet dinner will be from 6 to 8 p.m.;  and an open house and “sock hop” dance will be from 8 to 11 p.m. with DJ Kevin Tighe playing tunes from the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Final concert
The Dunkirk Beautification Committee will have its last free concert of the summer on Saturday at Webster-Depot Park in Dunkirk.
Spittin’ Image will begin performing at 7 p.m.
Bring lawn chairs.  Concessions will be available.

Arts Place
The Joetta Maue exhibit “Sleepers” will open Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Hugh N. Ronald Gallery at  Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland. The exhibit will continue through Oct. 6.
Maue is a fiber artist from Brooklyn, New York. Her “Sleepers” exhibit explores the liminal space of the sleeping figure in a series of embroideries.[[In-content Ad]]
