Ault lifts Eagles past Tigers

BLUFFTON — Hanna Ault scored nearly as many points as the entire Harrison Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team Tuesday, netting 21 points in West Jay’s 38-28 victory over the Tigers.
Shelby Caldwell had a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds as the West Jay seventh graders topped Harrison, 26-16.
For the West Jay eighth graders, Kady Finnerty had nine points and nine rebounds, while Ault added eight rebounds. Kimber Harris tallied six points and four steals, and Katy Hamilton added two points.
Rhegan Shimp scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds for the seventh grade Eagles, Calli Crosby tallied five points and Dawn Minnick added two.
Kensey Litton had five rebounds and four steals for the Eagles.
Both teams improve to 2-0.

WJ boys unbeaten
BLUFFTON — Cole Stigleman scored 12 points Tuesday as the West Jay eighth grade boys basketball team remained unbeaten with a 37-34 win over the Harrison Tigers.
The West Jay seventh grade boys team lost in overtime Tuesday, 33-31 to the Tigers.
Connor Davies scored eight points for the eighth grade Eagles, while Garrett Rodgers tallied six and Max Moser had five.
Holton Hill recorded four points, four assists and three steals, and Blake Stewart had two points.
Stigleman also added five rebounds and four assists to go with his 12-point scoring effort.
For the West Jay seventh graders (2-2), Gabe Faulkner scored a team-high 20 points and also added five steals and one rebound.
Wyatt Geesaman and Noah Harris each added four points, with Geesaman recording 11 rebounds and two blocks while Harris had seven steals and three rebounds.
Kobe Bennett tallied eight rebounds and two blocks to go with his two points.

Fort frosh split

FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery High School freshmen boys and girls basketball teams split a doubleheader with Fort Loramie Tuesday, with the boys topping the Redskins 43-30, and the girls falling 40-32.
Caleb Martin recorded a double-double for the boys (2-0), scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Jason Roessner had 10 points, while Kyle Knapke had eight points and eight rebounds.
For the Tribe girls (0-1), Grace Gehle had a team-high 10 points, while Audra Metzger added eight points and grabbed five rebounds. Jocelyn Kaiser tallied seven points, and Logan Ranly nabbed nine boards.

FRMS boys drop two
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School boys basketball teams both fell Tuesday to the St. Henry Redskins.
Evan Post had a team-high eight points for the Tribe eighth graders as they lost to the Redskins 41-30, and Peyton Jutte had 13 points for the seventh grade Indians in their 49-25 loss.
Ryan Braun scored six points for the Fort Recovery eighth graders. Cade Wendel netted four, Will Homan had three and Cashus Metzger added two.
For the seventh grade Indians, Mason Will scored eight points, and John Knapke and Dillon Cates each added two.

Thein scores 15
ST. HENRY, Ohio — Grace Thein scored more points than the entire St. Henry team, as the Fort Recovery eighth grade girls team defeated the Redskins 34-12.
The St. Henry seventh graders defeated the Tribe 29-25.
Carley Stone had eight points for the Tribe eighth graders, and Chloe Metzger added four. Sydney Dues, Kelsey Jutte and Kiah Wendel each added two points for the Tribe, who remain undefeated with a 2-0 record.
For the Fort Recovery seventh graders, Elise Gehle netted five points, while Brooke Gaerke, Audrey Guggenbiller and Aleigha Jenkins each tallied four.
Courtney Metzger added two points for Fort Recovery, who falls to 0-2 on the season.[[In-content Ad]]
