Baby story time set at JCPL (11/17/04)
Taking Noteq
Baby story time will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Jay County Public Library. Infants up to 24 months are welcome to attend with an adult. Stories, toys, music and instruments will be shared. No registration is necessary.
An after school special for children kindergarten through third grade will be Friday, Nov. 19, from 2:45 to 4 p.m. There will be stories, crafts and refreshments. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
The last day to vote on the Get Caught Reading photo contest is Saturday, Nov. 20, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
A teen advisory board meeting and a tie-dye program will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 7 to 8 p.m. for teens in grade six through 12. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
SCHOLARSHIP
Zach Widman of Portland was recently awarded the Distinguished Alumni Scholarship for the 2004-05 academic year at Indiana University, Bloomington. The award was based on cumulative GPA and the level of difficulty of coursework.
The son of Dale and Ruth Ann Widman, Portland, he is a senior majoring in outdoor recreation and natural resource management. His other academic achievements are membership in Phi Eta Sigma; National Freshman Honor Society; National Society of Collegiate Scholars; and Golden Key International Honor Society.
POINSETTIAS
Student Council and FCCLA at Fort Recovery High School will be selling poinsettia’s for charity. The cost is $10 for a 6 1/2” pot and all proceeds will go toward making a merry Christmas for some local families. Poinsettias will be available in red, white, pink, winter rose red, marble, jingle bells 3 and burgundy.
Orders are due by Tuesday, Nov. 30 and delivery date is December 6 or 7.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma” will be presented Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne. The play is being presented by IPFW Department of Theatre and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Tickets are available through the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Box Office at (260) 456-2224. Admission is $19, $30, $40, $50 and $60. You can also order on-line by visiting www.fortwaynephilharmonic.com.

Sesame Street Live presents “Elmo’s Coloring Book.” a colorful journey with Elmo, Zoe, Oscar, Big Bird and the rest of the Sesame Street Live friends at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 4000 Parnell Ave., Fort Wayne. Performances will be Friday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5, at 1 and 4:30 p.m.
