Bader, Vormohr trade records

Sophie Bader and Anne Vormohr have been breaking records all season. On Monday night, the cousins traded records.
Bader and Vormohr set new team marks in the 50-yard butterfly and 100 freestyle respectively to lead Jay County’s undefeated middle school girls swim team to a 177-135 victory over Bellmont.
Jay County fell 130-127 to Bellmont in the boys competition.
Bader’s time of 27.78 in the 50 butterfly snapped the record of 27.9 previously held by Vormohr. She was also first in the 100 breaststroke.
Vormohr won the 100 freestyle in 55.09 to break Bader’s mark of 56.12.
Sydney Mathias picked up victories in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Alex Bader was first in the 50 freestyle, Ashley Mark won the 400 freestyle and Katelyn Kelly took the top spot in diving.
For the boys team, Conner Daniels earned victories in the 100 individual medley and 50 freestyle and Sok Vormohr took the 100 and 200 freestyle.

Relay qualifies
MARION — In addition to its individual qualifiers, the Jay County High School girls track team also had a relay squad qualifiy for the indoor state meet at Saturday’s Hoosier State Relay Qualifier 2 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The distance medley relay team of Katie Simmons, Eme Miller, Abigail Johnson and Abbi Dunlavy placed second in the event at 13 minutes, 33.96 seconds. They joined Maria Murphy (shot put) in qualifying for the Class 4A-5A state meet. Morgan Link (55 hurdles) and Ciera Barcus (long jump) earned berths in the Class 1A-3A state finals.

Two win titles
YORKTOWN — A pair of Patriot Wrestling Club athletes walked away with championships at Sunday’s Yorktown Folkstyle Open.
Levi Hummel (145) and Dan Ostrowski (120) earned championships in the cadet and novice divisions respectively to lead the team. Second-place finishes went to Jacob Ferguson (school boy – 175), Andy Kohler (school boy – 160) and Mallory Winner (pee wee – 50).
Also placing for the team were Mason Winner (novice – 90) in third, Matt Blackford (cadet – 138) and Chris Pfiefer (cadet – HWT) in fourth, Tyler Leonhard (school boy – 144) in fifth and Dyllan Garringer (bantam – 55) in sixth.

Stars fourth at AC
MONROE — Chance Sprunger earned the lone championship Saturday as the South Adams Middle School wrestling team placed fourth at the 12-team Adams Central Invitational.
Sprunger won all of his three matches on the day, with two of those victories coming by pin. Wyatt Miller, Gage Conner and Gabe Schwartz each finished in second place.
Adding top-four efforts for the Starfires were Kadin Gerber in third, and Brandon Wynne, Kam DeLong, Kody Coates and Taylor Cueller in fourth.
South Adams dropped its match Monday 36-29 to Leo with wins coming from Miller, Gerber, Conner, Coates and Schwartz.[[In-content Ad]]
