American Health Network represents more than 70 offices and 200 physicians in Indiana and Ohio.

Collapsed

South Adams Trails Inc. was disappointed to discover they were denied for a $450,000 grant to rehabilitate the Ceylon covered bridge over the Wabash River near Geneva.

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs approved grants to 25 rural communities, but the covered bridge project was not among them.

No historic preservation projects were green-lighted in the round of OCRA grants. The trails committee will discuss how to move forward during its December meeting.

Union City awarded

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs recently awarded 25 communites with $11,529,500 in grants, including Union City for $500,000.

Union City received the grant for its downtown revitalization project. The money is part of the Community Focus Funds funded by the federal Community Development Block Grant program and administered by OCRA.

The money will fund Phase I of the project, starting at the alley north of Ohio Valley Gas and extending south until the money is exhausted.

Tyson rebound

Tyson Foods Inc. expects beef and pork prices to rise as it looks to shift toward exports.

The company posted a $455 million loss during the fourth quarter despite its meat divisions, beef, pork and chicken posting operating profits.

But the company expects a limited supply of domestic cattle and swine will help to increase prices in fiscal 2010.

Its chicken production, which is second largest in terms of sales, has continued to struggle as the company attempts to cut production and costs.
