Balbec Days this weekend (09/24/07)

Taking Note

Balbec Days will be held Saturday and Sunday at the cabin on Ind. 1 in Balbec.

There will be flea markets and crafts. Anyone wanting to participate in the flea markets, may call Mary at (260) 731-4042.

Pulled pork sandwiches, kettle cooked ham and beans, fried cornbread, sausages sandwiches on the grill and pie will all be available for sale.

An antique tractor pull will be held Sunday at 10 a.m.

Outdoor services

Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville will have outdoor services tonight through Thursday at 7 p.m. in the church parking lot.

The guest speaker tonight will be Randy Davis; the guest speaker Tuesday will be Duane Brim; the guest speaker Wednesday will be Jonathan Edwards and the guest speaker Thursday will be Kyle Duncan.

Music will be provided by the Jay County Praise Band, Friends Church and Debbie Skeen.

To compete

Dustin Snyder, a 2007 graduate of Jay County High School, has entered three sheep in the 34th annual North American International Livestock Exposition Nov. 3 through the 16 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.

The show is the world's largest purebred livestock show with more than 21,000 entries.­

Experience at Fort

Felicia Quaintance, a sophomore at Ohio State University ATI majoring in agricultural education, recently completed a ten-day early field experience with the Fort Recovery Agricultural Education Program and the FFA.

Quaintance was involved in class observations, teacher, guidance counselor and administrator interviews and teaching agriscience classes for two days.

Public speaking

IPFW and the Adams County Lifelong Learning Center are offering public speaking classes beginning Oct. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the South Adams High School in Berne. The classes will meet each Wednesday through Oct. 24 and are designed to improve presentation skills, demonstrate effective techniques for public speaking and practicing in a casual environment.
