Band earns money at blood drive
Taking Note
The American Red Cross held a Bleed for the Band blood drive on Friday at Jay Community Center in Portland. There were 56 people who donated and the Jay County Marching Patriot Band was awarded $500 to use toward new equipment, uniforms and trips.

10-year reunion
The Jay County High School graduating class of 2002 is planning its 10-year reunion on Sept. 15 at the Portland Golf Club, 124 W. 200 South. A golf outing will be held in the morning and the reunion will be from 6 to 11 p.m.

Sharon Shaw, a Portland native, graduated from Ohio University on June 9 with a master’s of education degree in education administration. She lives in Lancaster, Ohio, with her husband Tim and sons, Joe Schmitz, 21, and David Shaw, 15. She is employed at Berne Union School District as a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Site supervisor.
Ashley Sudhoff, Fort Recovery, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Toledo (Ohio).
