Bank of Geneva to close Saratoga branch (01/20/07)
Business roundup
The Bank of Geneva branch in Saratoga will close March 31 bank officials have said, but the town board is trying to interest another bank in opening a branch there.
Andrew Briggs, president of the Bank of Geneva, said maintaining a branch in the Randolph County community has not proven economical. Three employees there will be losing their jobs.
The Saratoga bank has been in operation for 34 years, with Geneva management maintaining the facility for the last five years. It was closed for several months when Old National closed the branch and before the Bank of Geneva took over.

Name changed
The name of AmeriCare Communities has changed to CrownPointe Communities.
In 2003, AmeriCare Communities acquired eight buildings from the Church of God, headquartered in Anderson. Most of the church's properties were known as CrownPointe.
With the acquisition, the AmeriCare now had eight buildings with the CrownPointe name, and five others with a variety of names. It was determined to eliminate the diversity in campus naming and everything would become CrownPointe.
The Portland campus is now known as CrownPointe of Portland Senior Living Community.
Beginning in February, the webite will be changed and operating under a new address at www.crownpointecommunities.com.
Annual banquet set
The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce will again honor the individuals of the community who have given outstanding service when it hosts its annual Citizen of the Year and Hall of Fame banquet.
The event is set for Sunday, March 11, at the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church basement. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a dinner and program.
The chamber is now accepting nominations from the community. The Citizen of the Year will be presented to the person who has given outstanding service to the community during 2006, and the Hall of Fame will be presented to a citizen or citizens who have given outstanding service in the past year.
Nomination forms will be accepted through Feb. 12, and are available at the library, post office, and banks in Fort Recovery.
