Quinton Donnelly was the winner of the spelling bee recently held at Judge Haynes Elementary School. He is a fifth grader and the son of Blu Donnelly.
The alternate was Zane Shreve, the fifth grade son of Rick and Linda Shreve.
Roundtable to meet
Arts Place Region Five Roundtable will meet on Thursday, March 22, at 4 p.m. The quarterly meeting will be held at Madison Grant High School, 11700 Southeast 00 West, Fairmount.
Regional Roundtable meetings provide a forum for regional arts issues and provide guidance to Arts Place in policymaking decisions.

People to People
Drue Armstrong has been accepted into the People to People Student Ambassador class of 2007 and will travel to Australia in June. He is a fifth grade student at East Elementary in Portland and the son of Shavonne and Jimmy Armstrong.
Student ambassadors travel to different countries to promote world peace by learning and communicating with people from other countries.
During his two weeks in Australia, Drue will stay with host families, spend a day in school with Australian kids his age, meet with Australian government officials and do many educational activities.
Anyone wishing to help sponsor Drue's trip may make checks payable to Drue Armstrong and send to 944 Sandy Hollow Lane, Portland, IN 47371.
Fiber Fest fun
The Jay County Visitor and Tourism Bureau has announced its entertainment for the Fiber Fest and Spin-In to take place at Jay County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 10.
Entertainment will be provided by the Limberlost String Band, which plays a variety of bluegrass, gospel and folk music; Faere Wyndes, a Celtic folk group; and the Melody Makers of Indiana, formerly known as the Indiana Extension Homemakers Chorus.

NCGLNAC events
National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture, Inc. will hold a lecture series, with the first lecture taking place at the Jay County Historical Museum in Portland on Saturday, March 10, at 5 p.m.
Professor Donald R. Cochran, director of the Archaeological Resource Management Services of the Department of Anthropology at Ball State University, will discuss the solar alignments within pre-contact Adena sites in Northeastern Indiana.
Other lectures will take place April 14 and May 12 at the Jay County Historical Museum.

On March 24 and 25, the NCGLNAC Spring Arts and Crafts Workshops will be held at the Women's Building at the Jay County Fairgrounds.
Classes will include historical hand-carved wooden spoons taught by Craig White; native plants and their uses in cooking, healing and daily living taught by Dani Tippmann; Miami corn husk dolls taught by Cathy Nagy-Mowrey; and a Great Lakes Native American culture and history class.
The dugout canoe will also be worked on.

Arts Place, Inc. is hosting a mini conference for nonprofit organizations on Thursday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The conference will include accounting issues, proposal writing and development, fund raising campaigns and board issues.
