Beitler to compete at state fair
Taking Note
Portland resident Charis Beitler, 13, will compete in the Colgate Country Showdown on Aug. 15 at the Indiana State Fair. She was the winner of the WCJC Colgate Country Showdown contest. WCJC is radio station 99.3 out of Marion. Beitler also won two tickets to the Kenny Chesney concert to be held at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Camp Harmony
State of the Heart Hospice will hold Camp Harmony on Sept. 18, 19 and 20 at Indian Hills 4-H Camp in Pleasant Hill, Ohio.
The camp is for families dealing with the loss of a loved one and allows them to spend time alone to develop open communication.

Family seminar
The Indiana Farm Bureau District IV Fall Family Seminar will be held Sept. 8 at the 4-H Community Center in Bluffton. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. and programs will begin at 3 and 6 p.m.

Wins scholarship
Lauren Haggenjos, a recent graduate of Jay County High School, has been awarded the Farm Bureau Insurance John O. Hutchins Scholarship.
While at JCHS, Lauren was a member of the National Honor Society, Academic Team and Student Council. She also sings, plays a variety of instruments and participates in theatre productions and dance.
Lauren is a volunteer for United Way, local blood drives and the Salvation Army.
She is the granddaughter of Farm Bureau retiree Richard Wilson and plans to attend the University of Evansville.[[In-content Ad]]
