Bellmont defeats Jay Co. (10/12/07)
JCHS volleyball
After a solid first game, the No. 5 team in the state overwhelmed the Patriots.
The Bellmont Squaws, ranked fifth in Class 3A, stormed through the second and third games Thursday to hand the Jay County High School volleyball team a 25-17, 25-8, 25-7 defeat.
Shelby Rines led the Patriots (14-16) with 10 digs, three points and two blocks, all of which were team highs. She also had three kills.
Sarah Westgerdes notched five kills, and Sharon Dirksen finished with 11 assists. Chelsea Grady had seven digs and two points, and Stephanie Wellman also scored two points.
Junior varsity
Jay County fell to 14-7 on the year with a 25-11, 25-11 loss to the Squaws.
Liz Walker totaled six assists and three points in the match. Kelci Reed and Lacey Randolph each had eight digs.
Amy Alig, Taylor Burris and Lindsey Current contributed two kills apiece.[[In-content Ad]]
