State Representative Bill Davis (R-Portland) would like students to apply for the Statehouse Page Program. Pages must be at least 13 years old and will receive an excused absence from school.
Pages will be given a tour of the capitol building; including the governor's office, the chambers of the Indiana House and Senate and the Indiana Supreme Court. They will also get to witness any floor sessions and committee hearings and spend time of the floor of the House of Representatives with Rep. Davis.
Pages must provide their own transportation to and from the Statehouse. Interested students should send their name, age, address, phone number and schol to State Representative Bill Davis, 200 W. Washington St., Statehouse Room 401-5, Indianapolis, IN 46204 or e-mail their request to [email protected].
Dean's list
Matthew and David Knoth have both made the dean's list for the fall semester at Purdue University School of Pharmacy in West Lafayette.
Matthew is a 2001 graduate of Jay County High School and David is a 2002 graduate of JCHS. They are the sons of Richard and Priscilla Knoth, rural Bryant.
Stories wanted
As the 29th anniversary of the blizzard of 1978 approaches, Indiana native Jennifer Petro is seeking Hoosier recollections and photographs of the blizzard to include in a book she is compiling.
Petro was born on the second day of the blizzard, Jan. 26, 1978, in Fort Wayne on the living room floor of her parents' home when her mother Nancy Arbaugh went into premature labor. Local RN, Skip Balkenbush, arrived on a snowplow just minutes before the delivery.
Anyone with stories to share may call Jennifer at (317) 408-4633 or visit [email protected].
Her project is being partially funded with support from the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Quilt show
The Berne Swiss Stitchers Quilt Guild Quilt Show is scheduled for July 27 and 28, 2007, during Swiss Days in Berne.
The show will include the Swiss Days Quilt Show Challenge "Curves or Illusions of Curves.
