BERNE - The South Adams boys tennis team lost every match in straight sets Tuesday as it fell to 1-5 with a 5-0 loss to the Blackford Bruins.
Kegan Sprunger played the closest match for the host Starfires, pushing Alex Williams in each set before falling 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. Chase Ingle fell 6-3, 6-0 to Aaron Williams at No. 1 singles, and Alex Huber lost 7-5, 6-1 to Austin Ford in the No. 3 singles match.
Doubles matches saw Landyn Waugh and Daniel Dynes lose 6-2, 6-0 to Micah Adkins and Adam Durin at No. 1 and Jacob Smith and Kyle Schmidt lose to Aric Durin and Blake Mussellman 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2.
The South Adams junior varsity team lost 4-1 to the Bruins with Derek Schwartz picking up the lone win 8-2 at No. 2 singles.
Spikers slip to 0-10
BERNE - The Starfire volleyball team dropped its 10th straight match to open the season Tuesday, falling 25-12, 25-6, 25-17 to the visiting Parkway Panthers.
Kassy Potts had 15 digs in the defeat. SAHS has won just three games this year.
South Adams also lost the junior varsity match 25-11, 25-5.
