Blazers end South Adams' season

BUTLER — The Starfires had the lead early and an opportunity to reclaim it in the sixth inning, but couldn’t come up with a key hit.
The South Adams High School softball team’s season came to a close Monday as it fell 6-5 to the host Eastside Blazers in the opening round of the Class 2A sectional tournament.
The Starfires (10-16) left the bases loaded in the sixth inning as Eastside held on for the one-run win. They lead 3-0 before the Blazers scored four times in the fifth inning and two in the sixth.
Alyssa Bluhm suffered the loss in relief, giving up two runs on two hits in 2 1/3 innings.
Alaina Johnston led the SAHS offense with a double, a triple, three RBIs and a run. Olivia Turner was 2-for-3 with a run, and Alyssa Bluhm singled and scored twice.
Kaiser places third
COLDWATER, Ohio — Jocelyn Kaiser led the Fort Recovery Middle School girls track team Monday as it finished sixth out of 10 teams at the Midwest Athletic Conference Championships at Coldwater.
The Tribe girls scored 45 points while Versailles won the meet by six over Minster with 126.
The FRMS boys were ninth with 13 points. The host Cavaliers scored 127 points to win by three over Versailles.
Kaiser placed third for the Indians in the shot put at 33 feet, 7½ inches. Whitney Will finished fourth in the 200-meter hurdles in 33.65 seconds, and Angela Heitkamp was fourth in the 1,600 run in 6 minutes, 2.3 seconds.
Cole Dues paced the Fort Recovery boys with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches, for fourth place in the high jump.

Pearson leads
Dusty Pearson powered All Circuit Electric to an 11-8 Portland Junior League Rookie baseball victory Monday over Williams Auto Parts. Ponderosa defeated Fisher Meats, 7-2.
Pearson went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs to lead All Circuit. Conner McFarland had three hits, three runs and two RBIs, and Christian Runkle was 3-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and three RBIs.
A.J. Myers paced Ponderosa with a single, a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run. Carter Link hit an inside-the-park homer.
Koby LeWellen had three hits, including an inside-the-park homer, four RBIs and two runs for Williams, and Zach McAbee led Fisher with two hits and an RBI.[[In-content Ad]]
