Bloomfield students honored (04/20/07)
Taking note
Bloomfield Elementary staff members recently named lifeskill winners for February and March.
Students winning in February for the likeskill "being responsible" were Shayla Bogard, A.J. Bryan, Conner Campbell, Kayla Dirksen, Austin Haffner, Danielle Heitkamp, Caitlyn Mark, Zach Metcalf, Abigail Muhlenkamp, Brad Muhlenkamp, Jade Robbins, Katie Robbins, Andrew Rockwell and Emily Westgerdes.
Students winning in March for the lifeskill "friendship" were Kristy Alig, Alex Bridges, Adam Haffner, Collin Haines, Brooke Harshman, Mariah Lawrence, Francine Muhlenkamp, Lilia Muhlenkamp, Lyla Muhlenkamp, Abby Reier, Jordan Reinhart, Michael Rodriguez, Brett Rowles, Cory Stoner, Brent Walker, Cody White and Mallory Wright.
Young Eagles
Junior Eagles will be initiated at a charter ceremony on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Eagles lodge. Junior Eagles continue the motto for the Eagles which is "People Helping People" by raising money for state and local charities. They collect pop tops and cans and have fundraising events and have collected $200.
4-H winners
Several Jay County 4-H members recently participated in the Darke-Mercer County Classic Open Beef Show in Greenville, Ohio.
Katie Snyder won reserve champion AOB Heifer for her purebred shorthorn heifer, KL Alexis. Michael Ault won second place for angus heifer; Kyle Garringer won third place for simmetal heifer; Travis Garringer won fourth place for charlois heifer and Colton Prescott won fourth place for crossbred steer.
