BLUFFTON — Eight hits in seven innings produced zero runs.
The Jay County baseball team had just one hit fewer than the Bluffton Tigers Monday, but couldn’t push a single run across the plate in a 4-0 defeat.
Josh Shatto took the defeat as half of the four runs against him were unearned. He gave up nine hits and a walk while striking out five.
Casey Waters had three of the hits for Jay County, which dropped to 9-12. John Retter, Eric Somers, Joshua Ludy, Cory Locke and Shatto added one hit apiece.
Rockwood wins league
Mike Rockwood posted the high total as the Fort Recovery Gun Club completed its spring trap league recently.
Rockwood broke 282 out of 300 targets to finish with the highest total. Gary Reinhart, Dave Knapke, Ted Stammen, Tom Bailey and Joe Schwieterman finished first among the 21 teams.
Also earning a choice of trophy or shells for posting the top point total on their team were Joe Harlamert, Jon Smith, Alvin Alig, Tod Kunk, Brian Evers, Matt Wenning, Pat May, Dale Siegrist, Josh Ebbing, Steve Walterbush, Brad Westgerdes, Slick Steinbrunner, Keith Lefeld, Nate Bomholt, Doug Duear, Steve Shauver and Keith Lindsey.[[In-content Ad]]
