Tribe tops Flyers
FORT RECOVERY — Riding the momentum from its sectional championship blowout of Lincolnview on Wednesday, the Fort Recovery baseball team continued its winning ways on Friday.
With the score knotted at three, Elijah Kahlig ripped a double off the left-field fence, and Blake Boughman followed with a double of his own to give the Indians a 4-3 victory over the Marion Local Flyers.
Fort Recovery (17-4, 5-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) opened the scoring in the game’s first inning.
Kyle Schroer connected for one of his two hits on the day, driving in Mitch Stammen, who reached on a single and then swiped second base to get into scoring position.
The Flyers took the lead in the fifth inning with a trio of runs, but their lead didn’t last long as the Indians plated a pair in the home half of the frame to tie the score.
As part of the two-run fifth, Stammen again swiped second base to give him 25 thefts for the season and tie Dale Griesinger’s single-season record.

The four led the Indians to a sectional championship Wednesday, the schools first title since 2008.
Earning second-team selections were Kent Retz (pitcher) and Cole Wendel (second base). Derek Backs, Jacob Muhlenkamp and Kyle Schroer were all given honorable mention.
