Bollenbacher employees certified


Three employees of Bollenbacher & Associates LLC Certified Public Accountants recently completed the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification for QuickBooks 2013.
Brent Wiederman, Brittany McGuire and Chelsea Bollenbacher all completed the certification, which requires each individual to be knowledgeable in all areas of QuickBooks Accounting software as well a complete a 16-hour instructional course.
Wiedemann, MGuire and Bollenbacher will now be certified by Intuit as  trainers for the QuickBooks software.
Bollenbacher & Associates is a full-service CPA firm providing accounting and tax services for individuals and businesses. They have an office at 215 E. Pearl St., Portland.

Franklin earnings
report coming
Franklin Electric, of Bluffton, recently announced that it will release its second quarter 2013 earnings at 8 a.m. on July 30.

Smitley named CEO
The Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Indiana recently announced Greg Smitley has been named its new president and CEO.
“I’m pleased to continue the exemplary work that (outgoing president) Mike Coil and his staff have done to establish the BBB as the vanguard of marketplace integrity and trust and I look forward to the opportunity to further serve the community of Northern Indiana,” Smitley said in a press release.
Coil retired from the position in June.
The northern Indiana branch of the BBB covers 23 counties, including Jay and Adams. It has three offices, located in Fort Wayne, Merrillville and Osceola.

IEDC names companies to watch
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has teamed with the Indiana Small Business Development Center network and the Edward Lowe Foundation to name 33 “Companies to Watch.”

The accolade recognizes the state’s privately held businesses that employ six to 150 full-time employees and have between $750,000 and $100 million in annual revenue or capital.
The list of companies can be viewed on the IEDC website at www.iedc.in.gov.

New website
Tyson Foods Inc., parent of Tyson Mexican Original in Portland, has launched a new corporate website.
The site — TysonFoods.com — includes more than 150 website pages, 800 photos, and 24 videos.
This is the first redesign and rebuilding of the Tyson site since 1996.

New Russian plant
Saint-Gobain, parent company of Verallia of North America which has a plant in Dunkirk, has opened its first plasterboard plant near the village of Gomzovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia.
The new plant is expected to boost Saint-Gobain’s position in the Russian construction market. The plant also contains a gypsum quarry. Saint-Gobain also produces sheet glass.

Director named
Michael D. Tarvin has been named the new director of chaplain services for Tyson Foods.
A former U.S. Army chaplain, he is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Tyson’s chaplaincy program was started in 2000 and provides pastoral care to the company’s employees and their families regardless of religious affiliation or beliefs.
The company, which is the parent of Tyson Mexican Original in Portland, employs more than 120 workplace chaplains.
