Bollenbacher pitches one-hitter (05/04/07)

Baseball/softball roundup

PONETO - Daniel Bollenbacher was too much for Southern Wells to handle.

The Starfire pitcher dominated the host Raiders, tossing a 1-hitter Thursday in the South Adams baseball team's 10-0, six-inning victory.

Bollenbacher was lights out for the Starfires, allowing just one walk and a single. He struck out 11 batters.

Brent Habegger and Jordan Steiner made sure he had plenty of offense, each ripping a home run.

Habegger also had a double as he racked up two runs and four RBIs. Steiner drove in two runs and scored once.

Jordan Sharp and Andrew Caffee each had two hits, two runs and an RBI for South Adams, which scored three runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings. Kyle DeArmond went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Ethan Sharp doubled and scored a run.

Fort falls to Panthers

ROCKFORD, Ohio - The Fort Recovery softball team hung tough Thursday against the host Parkway Panthers only to fall to an 11-6 defeat.

The Tribe had a lead at 2-1 after two innings, and still trailed by just one with an inning and a half to play. But, Parkway posted four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Indians went scoreless in the seventh.

Kinsey Wenning took the loss for the Tribe as six of the 11 runs against her were unearned thanks to nine errors. She allowed 13 hits and three walks while striking out two.

Jodi Tobe powered the offense by going 2-for-3 with one run and a stolen base.

Heather Schmackers had a single and two walks as she scored three times, and Val Fortkamp finished with a hit, a run and an RBI.[[In-content Ad]]
