Bollenbacher tapped to fill vacancy (07/29/06)

Scott Bollenbacher has been elected to the Chamber Board of Directors. Bollenbacher will serve the remainder of June Domingo's term, which expires in 2008. Domingo resigned from the board in June.

Bollenbacher, a graduate of Indiana University, resides in Berne.

Embarq to invest

Telephone company Embarq has announced plans to invest $18 million in network upgrades in Indiana.

The announcement comes following the passage of Indiana House Bill 1279, which encourages phone companies to extend broadband services to its customers.

More than 75 percent of Embarq customers currently have access to broadband access. The company is hoping to extend broadband access to 88 out of 93 Indiana counties by the end of this year.

WorkOne selects provider

The Eastern Indiana Region VI Regional Workforce Board announced June 1 that they had selected East Central Opportunities, Inc. (ECO, Inc.) as the Regional Service Provider of WorkOne services in Eastern Indiana.

ECO, Inc. will now be responsible for integrating the Workforce Investment Act and other service deliveries in the WorkOne system in accordance with federal and state legislation and regulations.

Region five is comprised of Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush, Union and Wayne counties.

Broin to break ground

Broin has scheduled a ground breaking event for the Portland Premier Ethanol plant on Aug. 3.

The ceremony will be at Arts Place, Portland, beginning at 1:30 p.m. and invited speakers include Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman, Rep. Bill Davis and Portland Mayor Bruce Hosier.

The actual ground breaking will take at the Premier Ethanol construction site at 2701 W. Ind. 67 immediately following the ceremony at Arts Place.

The public is invited to attend both events.

Old National Bancorp reports earnings.

The Old National Bancorp reported earnings of $20.2 million, 30 cents per share, Thursday.

The announced earnings are down a penny from the first quarter earnings of 31 cents per share.

Earnings from the second quarter 2005 were $24.7 million, 37 cents per share, for continuing operations and $25.2 million, 37 cents per share.

The Andersons earnings

The Andersons Inc., the Maumee, Ohio-based agricultural firm with a grain operation near Dunkirk, reported second quarter net income of $10.3 million or 66 cents per undiluted share on total revenues of $378 million.

That compares with net income of $10.4 million or 67 cents a share for the same period in 2005.

The Grain and Ethanol Group's second-quarter operating income was $1.9 million. Total revenue for the group was $149 million, up $16 million in the second quarter of 2005.

The Andersons has applied for an air permit to construct an ethanol plant adjacent to its Dunkirk facility and has announced plans for another ethanol plant in Greenville, Ohio.[[In-content Ad]]
