Bring pet photos to library for contest
Taking Note
The Friends of Jay County Public Library are sponsoring a Love My Pet Photo Contest. Bring a photo of your cat, dog or other pet to the library and fill out an entry form from now until Friday. Photos should be unframed and no bigger than a 4 x 6 and the entry fee is $2.
Voting for photos can be done from Nov. 8 to 13 and the cost is 25 cents or five for $1.
Proceeds will benefit the Jay County Humane Society. For more information, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
Movie night
Adams Public Library in Geneva will have a movie night for seventh grade through high school age students on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Refreshments will be available. For more information, call the library at (260) 368-7270.
Fort library
Fort Recovery Public Library will have several activities during Fort Recovery Merchants Christmas Open House on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 9 p.m.
There will be crafts, a story hour for children and a book fair that begins Nov. 8.
On Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. Dr. Tim Barman will show and discuss his antique tool collection.
Friends of the Library will have its sixth annual Fort Festival of Trees from Dec. 6 to 31. Anyone interested in decorating a tree should call the library at (419) 375-2869 by Nov. 24.
Dean’s list
Students at Ivy Tech Community College’s East Central Region were named to the dean’s list for the summer semester.
Kathleen Jennings from Geneva; Sherry Ainsworth and Tony Love from Bryant; Amanda Murrell and Andrew Thompson from Dunkirk; John Mikulski from Pennville.
Lynnette Dowlen, Brock Hambrock, Jennifer Myers, Nichole Ray, Tara Shawver, Jessica Starr and Kortney Taylor, all of Portland; Catherine Hale and Alyssa Stout, both from Redkey; Teresa Westlake from Ridgeville.
Dane Rowles, a 2007 graduate of Jay County High School, made the dean’s list for the spring semester at Ball State University. He is an International Exchange Student in his senior year in Chester, England, and is majoring in anthropology, Latin and Greek.
