Bruins blank JC girls soccer

HARTFORD CITY - The undefeated Blackford Bruins overpowered the Jay County High School girls soccer team 5-0 Tuesday.
The Patriots were unable to record a shot on goal in the opening half as they fell behind 4-0. Ali Norton scored three times for Blackford, and Erin Gross and Ashli Sands added one goal apiece.
Jay County (4-8) limited the Bruins (11-0-1) to one second-half goal while managing three shots. Sammi Compton took a pair of shots, and Lindsay Moser added one.
Mollie May finished fifth nine saves.
SA spikers fall
BERNE - The South Adams volleyball team fell in three games Tuesday, losing 25-9, 25-11, 25-16 to the visiting Woodlan Warriors.
Karen Bollenbacher had six digs, five blocks and four kills in the defeat. Kassy Potts added eight digs and two kills.
The Starfires also dropped the junior varsity match 25-21, 25-18.
Link leads Fort
Amy Link led the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-10 win Tuesday over the Covington Buccs.
Link racked up 17 points to go along with seven digs. Kelsey Fiely had eight digs, six kills and a block, and Heather Vaughn finished with eight points and two kills.
Emily Link added five assists.
Cavs top FRMS
FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery seventh grade volleyball team lost 25-19, 25-16 Tuesday to the Coldwater Cavaliers. The eighth graders lost 25-13, 25-20.
Cassidy Rammel notched four points, two assists and one kill to lead the seventh grade Indians (2-9). Michaela Fullenkamp had five points and a dig, and Makayla Grover added four points and two assists.
Sierra Pugh had five points, two digs, one kill and assists for Fort Recovery's eighth graders (0-9). Morgan Dues scored six points, and Ashley Homan had two digs and a kill.
EJ 7th, 8th win
East Jay Middle School's eighth grade volleyball team picked up a 25-14, 24-25, 15-11 win Tuesday over Union City Westside, and the seventh graders won 25-12, 25-11. The sixth grade A team lost 25-17, 19-25, 15-8 while the B team split games falling 15-11 and winning 15-12.
Katlin Petro paced the EJMS eighth graders (9-4) with 15 points, seven kills and two blocks. Abbi Dunlavey had nine points and seven kills, Baily Weatherhead scored nine points and Ali Inman finished with five assists.
Jessica Kerrigan recorded 21 points, including seven aces, and three assists for the seventh grade Chiefs (10-3). Michelle Wellman had eight points and four kills, Catherine Dunn scored eight points and Breanne McIntire finished with four kills.
Sierra Trobridge led the sixth grade squad (3-15) with seven points and a pair of aces. Ava Kunkler had five points and four assists, and Kylie Osborne notched five points, two kills and two digs.[[In-content Ad]]
