BSU grad to be honored

A Bryant resident and graduate of Ball State University will be honored at BSU Homecoming on Saturday.
Jason Meinerding, a 2009 graduate, will be one of the recipients of the 2011 Graduate Of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) Award named by the Alumni Association at the university.
The award is given to graduates who have demonstrated personal and professional achievement, community involvement and commitment to Ball State University within the first ten years of graduation.
Meinerding earned a degree in finance and currently serves as president and investment vice president of the Ball State University Financial Management Student Association and is on the Deans Student Advisory Council for the Miller College of Business.
He works as a stockbroker for Charles Schwab in Indianapolis, is a member of the Jay County Chamber of Commerce and president of the Bryant town council.
At Pennville Park
The 5th Annual Pennville Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Pennville Community Park.
There will be a pumpkin contest, a performance by Mark’s Ark Exotic Animals at noon and a hog roast from 4 to 7 p.m.
Farmland fun
Greener Acres Day will be held in downtown Farmland on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be story time at Farmland library, a cake walk, parade and vendor booths. For more information on the parade and booth spaces call (765) 468-7030.
Albany festival
The annual Albany Lions Club Halloween Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 29. Games begin at 1 p.m. at the Albany Park and will include sack races, tug of war, Frisbee and egg tosses and the grease pole. A fish fry will follow at the American Legion and a chili supper at the Albany Fire Station.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and cash prizes will be given. Walking participants should line up in front of the fire station before 5:15 p.m. and motorized participants should register at the Albany Lions Community Building before 5:15 p.m. For parade information, call Steve Gill at (765) 744-9994.[[In-content Ad]]
