Businesses sought for training program (01/14/06)

Business roundup

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (IDWD) is seeking between eight and 12 businesses to participate in the development of a new training program designed to increase workplace skill levels.

A study released this month by the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce shows that the workplace literacy skills of one in three Indiana workers did not meet national minimum standards for successful employment. Some of the skills measured include reading, math, communication and digital (computer) literacy.

Interested companies should contact Terri Schultz, Director of Program Improvement at (317) 233-5663 or [email protected]. Prospective applicants will be invited to a question and answer session on Tuesday, and a technical assistance conference on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
