Butterfly tour to be held at preserve
Taking Note
A butterfly exploration tour will be held at Loblolly Marsh Wetland Preserve on Saturday, July 25.
Led by staff of the Limberlost State Historic Site, the tour will begin at 10 a.m. at Loblolly Marsh on Adams County Road 250 West, just north of Ind. 18.
The tour will end at the Limberlost State Historic Site, where explorers will get to view Gene Stratton-Porter's butterfly gardens and butterfly and moth collection.

Scholarships
Fort Recovery High School students were awarded scholarships from the Armella J. Kemper Scholarship fund.
Joanna Snyder was awarded the Educational Scholarship for $1,000; Anne Koesters was awarded the Nursing Scholarship for $1,000.
Kelsey Wuebker and Beverly Lennartz were awarded the Richard and Norvitta Hilbold Scholarship of $1,000 each.
Lauren Day was awarded the Dr. Charles H. Benner Educational Scholarship of $500.
Four students received the Fort Recovery Alumni Association Scholarship of $500 - Tina Roessner, Chris Gehret, Frank Thien and Kinsey Wenning.
Bluegrass jam
The Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva will have bluegrass jams for musicians and music lovers. Musicians can perform solo or jam with others.
Jams will be held Sunday, July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Admission is free. Bring lawn chairs.

Baking contest
The Swiss Heritage Society will sponsor Swiss Days BAKE-AWAY contest on Friday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at tthe Swiss Heritage Village/Museum in Berne.
There are three categories for entries - kids' cookies, frosted cakes and decorated cookies.

Two Jay County High School graduates recently earned degrees from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
Whitney Schememaur earned a bachelor's degree in language arts education.
She was active in Alpha Lambda Delta scholastic honorary for freshman women; Kappa Phi Christian sorority and Unlimited Sharing Deputation Team.
Schemenaur is the daughter of C. Andy and Pam Schemenaur, Portland.
Benjamin J. Freeman earned a bachelor's degree in business administration/management.
He was active in the Society for the Advancement of Management professional organization, Sigma Theta Epsilon Christian fraternity, Unlimited Sharing Deputation Team, men's football team and men's golf team.
Freeman is the son of Ronald and Lonette Freeman, Portland.
Minnetrista events
Camp Minnetrista will be held July 20 through 24 and July 27 through July 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Each day will feature a theme from nature, history, arts and gardens.

Classes to teach how to make glass steppingstones will be held Tuesday, Aug, 18; Wednesday, Aug. 19, and Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The classes are for adults. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 11.
