Cancer society announces donors (10/15/04)
Taking Note
The list of donors to the Jay County Cancer Society was recently announced for the months of July, August and September.
Giving gifts in July was Psi Iota Xi (Longaberger Bingo), United Way of Delaware County, Jay County Cancer Walk, Glen and Bev Priest, Irene Wiley in memory of Jerry VanSkyock, and CTS Corporation in memory of Robert Scott.
In August, Terry and Ruth Degler, Steve and Pam Ray, Sandy Wolf, Arleta Glover and Lloyd and Susan Knittle gave in memory of Lester Bricker. Frank and Jane Lybarger, Bob Schmit, College Corner Friends, Kathryn Fry, Gary and Estie Schultz and Hannah, and Mike and Robin Brown and family, all gave in memory of Byron Ayers.
Ms. Freeda Fiely and Thelma Bock gave in memory of Marvin Bailey. Preferred Family Physicians of Jay County gave in memory of George Myron. Gladys Hardy gave in memory of Mary Loy and Wilma Traxler. Women of the Moose gave in memory of Bob Scott and Vera McBridge gave a gift.
Leo and Carol Glogas, Carolyn Keith, Randy and Debbie Snider, Randy Gore, Butch and Sue Lewis, Sonya and Chris Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Ham Ferguson, Cathy and Tom Baldauf, Tim and Jackie Sheridan, Gary and Stacy McCowan, Tom and Louann Wilhelm, and Fisher’s Hoosier Propane all gave in memory of Hunter Byers.
Giving in September was Gary and Mike Trobridge and Sharon Craig in memory of Marvin Bailey.
Giving gifts were Mt. Zion U.M. Church, Fairview U.M. Church and City of Portland from the golf outing.
Giving in memory of Virginia Moore was Robert and Sherry Moore, an anonymous gift, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Lambert, Howard and Ruth Ann Sipe, Delta Theta Tau, Larry and Linda Freyburgher, Millard and Betty Schwartz, Jim and Jane Schwartz, Bill and Linda Schwartz, Jim and Betty Stipp, Marilyn Coleman, Randy and Melissa Walker and the Meehan and McAbee families.
Also Connie and Michelle Laux gave in memory of Danny Yohe.
LOBLOLLY WINNERS
Betzy Jarrett was named the queen of Bryant Loblolly Days, held September 10, 11 and 12.
First runner-up was Julie McGraw, second runner-up was Amanda Somers, third runner-up was Broguen Whetstone and fourth runner-up was Christy Rowles.
Winners of the baby contest for infants to eight months were Robert Billington, son of Bob and Tandra Billington, Geneva, and Audrey Herman, daughter of Teresa Rabon and Gary Herman, Portland.
For babies nine to 16 months, winners were Noah Botts, son of Scott and Mandy Botts, Portland, and Linda Mercer, daughter of Dru and Sara Mercer, Bryant.
For children 17 to 24 months, winners were Donovan Shanyfelt, son of Carrie Shaneyfelt, Salamonia, and Erika Heitkamp, daughter of Gary and Shirley Heitkamp, Bryant.
The theme winner of the baby contest was Ralyn Chaffins. Prince and Princess winners were Micheal Rodriguez and Kiersten Rabon.
Pet parade winners were Nichole Ellenberger for best cat.
First place for best dog was given to Dan Muhlenkamp and second place was Elisha McGraw.
For most original, first place went to Kalin McGraw, second place to Risa Acock and third place went to Virginia Whetstone, Ben Brinkerhoff and Trinity Whetstone. Best dressed first place went to Dan Muhlenkamp, second place to Kaling Grogg and third place to Trinity Whetstone.
Overall winner of the baking contest was Frances Albent.
First place theme winner was Norma Whitacre, second place was Kathy Davidson and third place was Bonnie Cart.
First place winner for cookies was Kathy Davidson and second place was Bonnie Cart.
Winning first place for her pie was Kathy Davidson, second place was Lisa Reinhard and third place was Bonnie Cart.
First place cake winner was Frances Albent.
The art contest overall winner was Samantha Homan.
