ADDRESS CORRECTION
Due to incorrect information provided to The Commercial Review, the address for a patient at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis was listed incorrectly in Wednesday’s edition of The CR.
The correct address for Blake Elick, a 16-year-old Portland resident, is Blake Elick, c/o Riley Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202, Room 3825.
LOT ACCIDENT
Two vehicles collided in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Portland on Wednesday at 1:26 p.m.
Roy M. Pitman, 66, 11 Bell Ave., Redkey, told Portland police that he was backing out a parking space in the lot located at 1600 N. Meridian St., Portland, and collided with the car driven by Ralph H. Horner, 28, 126 W. McNeil St., Portland.
Horner said he also was backing out of a parking space when the collision occurred.
Damage to Pitman’s 1981 Chevrolet van and Horner’s 1993 Chevrolet Beretta was estimated between $750 and $1,000.
TRUCK DAMAGED
A Portland man reported truck damage to Portland police on Wednesday.
Randy Fisher, 213 Glassford Ave., told police the passenger side of his 1988 Ford truck was damaged sometime between 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
A damage estimate was not provided.
FALSE ALARM
Portland Fire Department were called to a fire alarm at AmeriCare Living Center of Portland on Wednesday morning.
Four firefighters responded to the 7:05 a.m. alarm with two trucks.
Smoke from someone smoking outside the building was the cause of the alarm, an official from the department said this morning.
The center is located at 200 N. Park St.
AREA COURTS
Bernard L. Lea, 61, 129 1/2 N. Wayne St., Fort Recovery, was sentenced in Celina Municipal Court recently for domestic violence and assault, both misdemeanor charges.
He was sentenced to concurrent 10-day jail sentences on each charge with the time suspended on the condition he enrolls in a long-term domestic violence counseling program and follows any subsequent guidelines.
