COUNTY ACCIDENT
A vehicle driven by a rural Pennville man struck a large dog on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. in Bearcreek Township.
Melvin L. Ault, 42, 6161 West 400 North, told Jay County police he was driving north on U.S. 27, at the intersection of county road 500 North, when he struck a large dog.
Damage to Ault’s 1994 Dodge car was estimated at less than $750.
CITY ACCIDENTS
Vehicles driven by a Portland teenager and a rural Portland woman collided at the intersection of Meridian and Walnut streets on Tuesday at 3:52 p.m.
Taylor M. Tullis, 17, 603 W. Walnut St., told Portland police he was driving north on Meridian Street and was attempting to turn left onto Walnut Street and collided with a southbound 2002 Mercury car driven by Ruth A. Hosier, 48, 2934 North U.S. 27.
Hosier told police she was driving south on Meridian Street and could not avoid the collision with the 1992 Saturn car Tullis was driving.
Damage to the two cars was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Two vehicles collided in the parking lot of True Value Hardware on Tuesday at 12:28 p.m.
Gerald L. LeMaster Jr., 24, 1937 West 500 South, told Portland police he drove out of a parking space in the lot, located at 1100 N. Meridian St., Portland, and struck a southbound 1998 Ford truck driven by Ruth Waterman, 62, 348 E. Main St., Redkey.
Damage to LeMaster’s 1995 GMC truck and Waterman’s truck was estimated between $750 and $1,000.
TAPES MISSING
A Fort Recovery woman reported to police on Tuesday that two rented videotapes were stolen out of her car.
Rachel Zimmerman, 2488 Sharpsburg Road, told Portland police that two tapes were stolen from her car while it was parked in the parking lot of Pizza Hut, 1502 N. Meridian St., Portland. The unlocked 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity was parked in the lot from 6:45 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The tapes were rented from Family Showcase in Fort Recovery.[[In-content Ad]]
