COLDWATER, Ohio - Both games were close Tuesday, but the Indians suffered their third defeat of the season.
Fort Recovery's freshman volleyball team took a 25-21, 25-23 loss to fall to 10-3 on the year.
Emily May powered the Indians with team highs of six digs and four kills. She also had two blocks and one point.
Alyssa Brackman totaled eight points and five digs, and Chelsey Leuthold had three kills and three blocks. Carly Staugler put up six assists, Josie Guggenbiller had four assists and Sarah Knapke scored four points.
Eagle 8th defeats HC
DUNKIRK - West Jay Middle School's eighth grade volleyball team evened its record at 7-7 Tuesday with a victory over Hartford City. The sixth and seventh grade Eagles dropped their match 25-16, 24-25, 15-8.
Kylie Barber's nine points led West Jay while Breanna Dahlstrom scored six of her eight points in the opening game. Winona Westlake scored all of her six points in game two, and Kendra Younger finished with four kills.
Shannon Springer racked up 14 points, including 11 in the second game, to lead the sixth and seventh grade squad. Shelbi Louck had eight points, and Krisha Barber finished with seven.
Marion tops Tribe
MARIA STEIN, Ohio - Fort Recovery's middle school volleyball teams each dropped to 4-7 Tuesday with losses to the Marion Local Flyers. The eighth graders lost 25-13, 25-12, and the seventh grade team fell 25-13, 25-18.
Olivia Thien's seven points, two kills and one block led the eighth grade team. Holly Thien added five kills, and Kendra Brunswick had four points.
Danielle Bihn paced the seventh graders with five points, one kill and one dig. Olivia Schwieterman had four points and one assist, and Kylie Kahlig notched two kills and two digs.[[In-content Ad]]
